Responsible for implementing severance tax policies, reconciling tax refunds and credits, developing procedures for timely application and tracking of severance tax credits, processing required reports, overseeing monthly severance tax filing preparation, communicating with state agencies, preparing acquisition and divestiture adjustments, and testing accounting software systems.
Develop and implement policies and procedures for filing OK and TX state severance tax refunds or reductions for the drilling of high cost gas wells and enhancing production on marginal wells; prepare all claims for eligible wells; coordinate severance tax refund or credit activity with operations personnel.
Reconcile tax refunds and credits to well revenues and coordinate disbursement of funds to all revenue owners.
Develop tracking and reporting procedures to provide timely application and tracking of severance tax credits allowed by the various governmental agencies, including coordinating and reporting the results to internal operations.
Process Office of Natural Resources Revenue (ONRR) and Native American reporting requirements; coordinate audits with ONRR and/or the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) and individual tribes.
Process monthly severance tax filing preparation.
Respond to inquiries and contact state agencies on issues regarding specific well filings.
Prepare and verify purchase price adjustments for acquisition and divestiture transactions.
Test systems, document processes, and develop back-up systems pertaining to anticipated accounting software system conversion.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
Minimum 5 years of related experience.
Oil and gas experience is required, specifically in oil and gas state regulatory accounting.
